What The Butler Saw by Joe Orton
A lascivious psychiatrist in a London clinic is interviewing (seducing) a prospective secretary when he is interrupted by his nymphomaniac wife. His convoluted and mendacious exegesis sets in motion a bedlam of confusions involving disguises, disappearances, and men dashing about in dresses. Orton's outrageous attack on conventional morality concludes with the state inspector's entrance through the skylight and the discovery of Winston Churchill's "cigar." Echoing the play's comic anarchy, the box set was a riot of colors and patterns splashed across a detailed Victorian parlor.
